Season 5: Greatest Hits

Spinning up your favorites March 1, 2022!

Knockout City Season 5: Greatest Hits

We’re rolling into a non-stop block of all the chart-topping hits from Year 1 in Knockout City! There are no commercials and no fillers in Season 5: Greatest Hits! We’ve brought back five Playlists you know and love: one every two weeks! Plus, we scrambled up a twist on an old classic for the Mid-Season Event that’ll have you hopping wild. Each Limited-Time event will feature many of the cosmetics, Ultimate Holograms, Intro Poses and MVP Poses that you’ve been waiting for a chance to see in the Shop again, along with unique items that we’re releasing for the first time! There’s never been a better time to experience the best that this City has to offer!

We’re proud of all we’ve accomplished in such a short period of time, and very excited for what’s in store for the future. Some of you may notice that this Season is a little lighter on content, as it doesn’t feature a new Brawl Pass, new map or new ball. But what you don’t see is behind the scenes, we’re diligently working to make the game free-to-play for everyone in Season 6. We know it’s hard to wait, and we’re notoriously bad at keeping secrets (well, some of us are, anyway), so we’ll be dropping hints throughout the next twelve weeks about the new Special Ball and other goodies in store for Year 2 of Knockout City. Whoops, just confirmed that there’s a new ball coming in Season 6. Anyway, moving on!

Roadmap

These look like some hot Playlists to brawl to! The next twelve weeks will be divided up into 2-week Events, featuring a different Playlist for each! We’ll reveal more about the upcoming Event Contracts, Event Rewards, and Event Shop items in the bi-weekly Chronicles that come out at 12pm (Noon) ET Mondays, so be sure to tune in for more juicy details!

Jukebox

Now we’ve made a bunch of neat improvements in Season 5, and you can read the massive list in the Patch Notes when they release on March 1st, but for now, let’s get some tunes up in here! Starting Tuesday, you’ll be able to saunter on over to the Jukebox and wake it up by dodging into it or whacking it with a dodgeball! The title of the currently playing song will appear in the lower left hand corner of your screen, and hitting it again will stop the music. This baby’s got all 18 launch tracks from the OST, and all players in your group will hear the same song, so you can rock out as you mess around in the Hideout!

Trophy Case

Up next on Knockout City Rooftop Flips: see how this KOTV Hideout flip completely transforms this rooftop retreat! That’s right, your Season trophies are proudly displayed in the Trophy Case in the Hideout, gleaming for all who visit to gaze upon with envy. Be sure to check back throughout the Season as your Street Rank trophies live-update with your progress! If you’ve got friends or Crewmates joining your Hideout, they’ll see the coveted shinies you’ve earned over your brawling career.

Controller Sensitivity

We’ve made some improvements to the sensitivity settings on controller that will make you a bit dizzy if you’re not ready for them. In the words of our Game Director, Jeremy, “The direction given to the gameplay team was, ‘Make the fastest speed faster than even the most superhuman player could use.’” Mission: Accomplished.

Season Contracts

Season 5 Contracts are here, and they’ve got amazing rewards to keep you brawling throughout the Season, and give you a little boost as you race toward the summit in Street Play. We know many of you will be missing Brawl Pass as you wait for its return in Season 6, so we wanted to give you some compelling rewards throughout your journey.

Season-long Contracts are split into 4 Tiers:

  • Cassette
  • CD
  • Vinyl
  • Lossless

Each tier of Contracts will increase in difficulty and time to complete. Individual Contracts will reward a metric ton of Friend XP Boosts and Match XP Boosts that will propel you at top speed through the ranks of Street Play, and give you the satisfaction of earning a Trophy once you complete each Tier—make sure you show it off right away in your Trophy Case! As you cross off each Tier, you’ll also unlock one new item belonging to an exclusive Legendary set, appropriately music-themed for our Greatest Hits season. Worn together, you know you’ll B Sharp!

But that’s not all! Finish up those Lossless Contracts, and wear your new gear right into your next match as you tackle a shiny new set of Diamond Contracts with a whole new set of challenges!

League Play

We were bringing in this Season’s trophies, when a dev who shall remain unnamed tripped and dropped them all down a big flight of stairs. The distance they fell was record breaking.

Climbing your way up to Diamond this Season won’t just award you with a shiny album to commemorate your greatness, you’ll take home all of the Diamond Rewards, including:

  • Season 5 Diamond League Trophy
  • Chrome Player Icon: Season 5 Diamond League
  • 400 Holobux
  • 5 Style Chips
  • 6-Pack Pom Passer
  • Uncommon Ultimate Hologram: Cut Diamond
  • Rare Glider: Pulverized Porcelain
  • Epic KO Effect: Thunder Struck
  • Legendary Taunt: Turn On The Heat
  • Chrome Ultimate Hologram: Cut Diamond

Can’t Stop The Hits

Let’s roll through the top playlists one more time and revisit our favorite moments while we explore all that this great City has to offer! Besides, gotta get those throwin’ arms good and warmed up to uh, coach, the new brawlers who join us in Season 6! You’re going to need it, baby!
